Ummmm WOW WHAT A NIGHT THIS WAS!
So I met Carly when I did this crazy thing where I skipped college for a year and traveled the world volunteering. It was coordinated by an organization and we got placed in the same group! Carly is a very talented wedding photographer and I looked up to her HARD CORE when I met her all those years ago as a budding inexperienced little photog! <3 She has inspired me and encouraged me since the day I met her and her kindness means more to me than she could ever know!
We planned a fun little couples shoot in Laguna Beach since she and her boyfriend Curtis were visiting! Little did EITHER of us know - Curtis planned for this to be the moment he proposed! Carly and Curtis have only been in front of the camera once before to model for a videographer - but you would NEVER know this was their first photoshoot together! After lots of laughs and me excitedly yelling at them to make out endlessly (#typical), we were headed back when I stopped them to try and squeeze the last little bit out of blue hour. (Blue hour is the hour after the sun sets! It creates unique but challenging lighting conditions and is a BLAST to shoot in!)
After placing them near the water, Curtis decided this was the moment and poured his heart out to Carly as he dropped down to one knee. Carly (and myself - let’s be real here) was gasping and crying and totally surprised by it all! What’s even crazier is that Curtis has this little joke where he has been carrying around fake engagement rings & fake proposing to Carly throughout their relationship. He had JUST pulled out the collection of many fake rings from his pocket to tell me about it as we were walking back. But then he pulled out the real ring and everything changed.
Basically Carly couldn’t handle it AT ALL and we spent the rest of the night trying to convince her it was, in fact, real while Curtis wiped away her tears of joy.
YEAH, IT WAS THAT GOOD. <3
p.s. guys - if you’re gonna propose at our shoot… it helps a little if you tell me beforehand! haha ;)
When your dog is as cute and love-able as Duke, you HAVE to make sure he is in your engagement photos!
Someone get Nicholas sparks on the phone like yesterday. <3
"MARISSA. IS. GREAT. YALL! We had engagement photos taken with her and she couldn't have made it a more enjoyable experience! She is so sweet as she works with you to get your personalities to come out in every picture. She knew poses that made us look unbelievably adorable and turned a seemingly average bushy area in town into a heavenly paradise! We didn't need much time to get the pictures we didn't even know we wanted as her mind continually searches to find the exact spot to shoot perfection. Her artistic heart comes out in incredible ways to make your pictures ones that you will cherish forever! You just let her do her thing, listen to her instruction, and let your love for your significant other shine bright! Thank you Marissa!!!"
"Marissa is amazing! She helped shoot our wedding with Eva. I was so nervous at the beginning of the day and she came in and brought such a contagious sense of both joy and calm to our whole crazy crew! She felt like a friend as soon as we met her. My now husband and I were both a little nervous because we're not super comfortable in front of the camera but the affirmation she and Eva provided made us feel so much more confident and that's reflected in our pictures! I felt like she really heard us. Her pictures feel as authentic, unique, and beautiful as she is! So happy she and Eva captured our day!"
second shooting for Eva Cranford Photography
Breanne was the most joyful bride to photograph! I've never seen anyone more full of life and love! Her day was full of joy and oh so much excitement. Aaron and Breanne have that fun, fairytale kind of love that we all dream about. It was an absolute honor and ball to photograph their wedding day second shooting for the one and only Eva Cranford Photography . Thanks for letting me be a part of it!
